Imagination Station

Girls will experience different areas of the performing arts including magic, costumes, and theatre games. They will use their imaginations to explore various characters as they meet the requirements of the yellow and purple petals.

Girl Scouts of Shining Trail Council invites all troops to participate in “Keep Burlington Beautiful”. Parents and girls are encouraged to participate in this clean-up effort to keep the town clean. All participants will receive a free t-shirt and free lunch. Troops must pre-register in order to receive a t-shirt at the Port of Burlington before clean-up begins.

"Snooze at the Zoo" Surviving the Cold

Bring your Daisy Girl Scout troop out to the Zoo to enjoy a Wonderful Winter Wildlife program. Then your scouts can join their family members for a stroll on Zoo grounds through the dazzling U.S. Bank Wild Lights. It's a wintertime double bill that can't be beat!

Follow the Reader: A Girl Scout Family Reading
Age Level: D, B, J
Subject: "Literacy/Reading Comprehension Skills"
Based on the five objectives of the White House literacy initiative No Child Left Behind: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. This family-centered book is completely bilingual.

Girl Scouts Against Smoking
Age Level: D, B, J
Subject: "Health, Fitness, and Sports"
Provides activities focused solely on preventing or stopping smoking in girls and young women. Activities are age specific and encourage exploration into the health issues related to smoking and finding more positive habits.

In The Zone-Living Drug Free

This program encourages girls to find their "zone" by living a positive, healthy and drug free life. An accompanying leader guide provides advisors and parents with the tools they need to help young people stay drug free.

Older Girl Scouts will find many useful tips to help ease them into a move to a new home and Girl Scout troop/group. This is a super resource book to help get them ready for a new place in their life.

Girl Scouts of the USA has teamed up with the White House Project, an organization that is changing the way people think about women in leadership roles, to create an exciting new Ms. President Patch for Girl Scouts of all ages.

Staying Safe

Designed to help girls (and the people who care for them) learn ways to better ensure their personal safety, this series of books, a component of P.A.V.E. (Project Anti-Violence Education) the Way, a national Girl Scout violence intervention initiative funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, was created with input from girls ages 4 to 17.

Girl Scouts shape UP!-An Online Program

Subject: “Health and Wellness”
Created to encourage healthy nutrition and regular physical activity, the Girl Scouts shape UP! participation patch encourages girls to live well and develop healthy habits. Many Girl Scout councils have partnerships with parks and recreation departments, sports organizations, and with schools and colleges for instruction and facilities.

"Meet the CEO"

This is a program developed for girls to interact with Shining Trail Council's CEO, Donna Logan. Donna will talk to girls about the council, her job, and answer any questions the girls may have. This is a great way for girls to gain insight into how Shining Trail Council is managed from the CEO office. Girls will receive a patch, tour the office and meet the staff. Make a meeting of this program ~ reserve a meeting room.

Zink the Zebra Foundation

This is a program that was created by the Zink the Zebra Foundation to educate Girl Scouts and adults on the importance of understanding, respect, compassion, and acceptance of others.

Coral Ridge Mall
Age Level: D, B, J, 11-17
Coral Ridge Mall located in Coralville, Iowa offers ice skating field trip packages starting at $10 per girl at the ice arena . Cost includes: 30 minute lesson, skate rental, skating, patch, and a certificate. Girls can skate as long as they want after the program. For more information contact Sue Reeves at (319) 354-7870.
