Camp L-Kee-Ta Improvements
What Does It Cost?
The addition of the "Huts" increases the outdoor capacity for campers and gives them another option along with the use of the troop house, tree houses, tents, and cabins.
Each unit sleeps up to four campers and features a wood frame with rough cedar siding, hip roof with a four-foot overhang and porch. Large side screens maximize airflow during warm summer days and roll blinds installed on the inside will keep moisture out of each unit.
Money spent to date on this project totals $48,577. Thanks to a generous donation from the John H. Witte, Jr. Foundation we need to raise approximately $19,000 to pay the remainder of material and labor costs.
The new Health & Wellness Center (1,176 square feet) includes an infirmary, trading post, staff quarters and a common room along with a full bathroom. The air-conditioned building offers a respite for girls suffering from heat related symptoms during hot summer months and heated rooms for a comfortable setting throughout the remainder of the year.
We received generous in-kind labor donations to build the Health & Wellness Center. However, donations are needed to cover the Council's cash outlay of $56,717 for materials and additional labor costs.
Yes! I want to support the camp improvements through a donation.
