The Annual Giving Campaign equips Shining Trail Council to provide excellent programming for the girls and to reach out to those that have not had the opportunity to experience Girl Scouting.

National Statistics
• 1 in 4 girls reported wanting to leave home because of violence
• A girl’s year of greatest risk of sexual assault is age 14
• Every 60 seconds a baby is born to a teen mother
• Every 40 seconds a girl is arrested
• 92% of female juvenile offenders have been abused
• Drop out rates for girls are increasing

The Girl Scout program is not all fluff but deals with such subjects as the effects of drugs through the “In The Zone” program, and a program on safety called “Don’t Go There” which deals with Internet use, good and bad touches, home alone, staying safe outside of the home, and many more.
